The Kids Were Here is a new project that the group of Springfield Photographer friends and I are going to be doing for a blog circle this year! I am so excited to begin this project with the group since I only got to step in on the last month of their last project (see that post here if interested!) and cannot wait to see what everyone will post in the coming year!
This project is meant to document the messes our kids leave behind...and even more-so the stories that those messes can tell. Let me tell you, having kids (even just 1 14 month old!) is quite a messy experience! I think this project is really good for me because I do not tend to adore that mess (who does...) and this project gives me a chance to appreciate it and often share a smile with Mike over it before the task of cleaning up. Even though the mess and chaos is bothersome now, I know a time will come when I wish my baby was in my home making a mess, and we are all embarking on this project for that future time. So that we can remember.
Now I admit, this project has been a little challenging for me, because being only 1, Elijah doesn't necessarily leave very creative messes. I can't document drawings on walls (eek!), or tea parties set up with dolls, because he is too little for that- what we get is just toys and sticky finger prints EVERYWHERE! So that is what I documented, in hopes of catching a few of his messes a bit more creatively than my eye usually sees them- which helps me find the messes endearing also. I know you will see wonderful captures as you scroll through the blog circle! Please enjoy E's June messes! :) I'm sure Piper's (our Aussie) messes will sneak in too.
This school bus always has a ball or a wooden shape in it- he loves loading and unloading it with treasures, and we always find a different combo in it!
E is just so tall to get those finger prints on the bottom- good thing the tv is bolted to the wall!
And of course, our true favorite...when E is ready to wake up in the morning or from any nap, he signals by throwing out his lovies and pacifiers from the crib- we find them in the most interesting places in his room! This was just a pretty one :)
Next month, I am going to focus on E's beloved "lovies" and the places we find them at as he totes them everywhere...it will be entertaining for sure! Make sure to visit Amanda Gardner's fabulous blog and complete the circle!
