The VZ Family: Fresh 48 | Springfield, IL Newborn Photographer

This beautiful little family is no stranger to this blog. I have gotten to witness and capture so many significant stages in their past couple years and I am so honored to have that privilege! But even amid photographing in hospital lighting, in their second slightly smaller room, with extremely rightfully exhausted parents, this stage might have been my favorite: the baby becoming the big sister. That is probably because we have so recently had that stage in our own family, and it was so significant for us; absolutely nothing has touched my heart in my entire life like watching my son be a big brother to his baby sister. And let's just be honest- a lot of things touch my heart! I am so excited to give these images from the VZ family's Fresh 48 to them, for their older daughter to be able to have a record of what it was like the moment she met her best friend. I cannot believe how lucky I am to get to capture these interactions...and how very thankful! I'm going to keep quiet and let the story now tell itself.

Newborn Hillary:Hospital | Springfield Newborn photography

I know at some point I am going to have to limit what types of sessions I shoot, but for now I am loving trying all sorts of different things, and this session, what is often called a "Fresh 48", a newborn session while the baby is still in the hospital and extra squishy, sweet, and new, might be one of my favorite types so far.  I am hoping to do many more of these as the years go on- there is something so special and new and raw about a family still in the hospital, just hours after this most significant event. Our hospital stay blew by in a flurry of family and visitors and recovering and I desperately wish we had better documentation of it.  It really is so different than taking newborn pictures later in their homes (which I love also) and documents such a special time.
Very dear friends of mine, who's maternity session was recently on the blog here, have had their sweet baby girl 2 weeks early (she was due just 2 days ago!) and I went in to visit them, take some photos, and of course have a little baby cuddle time!
